One of the four famous gardens of Guangdong, with the Qinghui Garden in Shunde, Yuyin Shanfang in Panyu and Keyuan in Dongguan. Liang Airu began building it under the Jiaqing Emperor in the early 19th century, and his nephews completed it after him. The garden pairs ponds, bridges, pavilions and living quarters in the southern Lingnan style and is known for its collection of strangely shaped rocks set among the water and trees, its moon gates and its narrow lanes between grey walls. Tickets cost CNY 30, free on Saturdays, open from 9 am to 5 pm, per visitor guides, and it lies near Foshan's old ancestral temple and the sights of the city centre.
