A lovely broad waterfall in the dry plains of Guanacaste, dropping about twelve metres across some fifteen metres of width like a white curtain of water between trees, into a wide, calm green pool edged by a small white-sand beach. Visitors reach it by a short, steep path from the car park, and the falls appear suddenly through the forest. Many swim in the wide pool, and some walk behind the curtain of water on the rocks, while birds and butterflies flit around. Above the falls a small calm river runs between rocks, reached by a side path. The local community runs the site and asks a small fee or donation for its upkeep. The best time is morning before the buses arrive, and it gets crowded at weekends. The water is clearest in the dry season and may turn murky after heavy rain. Keep an eye on your belongings in the car park.
