A canyon scenic area in Yanqing, north-west of Beijing, flooded by the reservoir behind the Longqing Dam. Its sheer rock walls recall famous landscapes, earning it nicknames such as «Little Three Gorges» and «mini Li River», and it is one of the capital's favourite day trips. Visitors ride up to the reservoir on a long dragon-shaped escalator, 258 m in length, then take a boat trip of about a quarter of an hour between the gorge walls, and a cable car climbs to a peak. In winter, for more than thirty years, it has hosted an ice lantern festival, with ice sculptures lit at night. The boat trip costs about CNY 60, the area is open from 7.30 am to 4.30 pm from mid-April to mid-November, and 2026 ice festival tickets started at CNY 108, per visitor guides. It lies about 80 km from central Beijing.
