Nuestra Señora de Loreto is one of the towns the Jesuits built for the Guaraní people in the region, part of the World Heritage Site UNESCO listed in 1984 with San Ignacio Miní, Santa Ana and Santa María la Mayor. Like its neighbours, it was a large planned town around a wide square, with workshops, houses and communal buildings. Loreto's ruins are less restored than San Ignacio's, much of their walls still under forest, and visitors walk among stone remains and huge trees in a quiet setting, with a small centre explaining the site's history. It suits anyone who wants to see the missions closer to the state in which explorers found them. The single missions ticket is valid here within 15 days, along with San Ignacio, Santa Ana and Santa María. The site opens daily 07:30-18:00 and lies between Santa Ana and San Ignacio, a few minutes off National Route 12.
