Los Gigantes, «The Giants», is a granite massif in the Sierras Grandes west of Córdoba city, known for huge rock towers carved by wind and ice into strange shapes, with grassy valleys and clear streams between them, including the springs of the Yuspe river, and small caves. It is one of central Argentina's favourite hiking and climbing areas: day walks among rocks and valleys, two-day treks to the summits with a night in a mountain hut, and climbing and abseiling spots. Raptors are seen along the way, as well as old stone walls built by herders. It is reached by a gravel road from the town of Tanti to La Rotonda, where visitors register and pay the entry fee, or from the north by a free access. Mountain weather changes fast, so bring rain and cold gear; a guide is best if you don't know the area.
