A 351.5-metre tower on the shore of Beira Lake in the heart of Colombo, among the tallest self-supported structures in South Asia. Its top is shaped like an opening lotus flower, and it has become a new symbol of the capital's skyline, glowing in changing colours at night. The tower combines telecommunications, observation and leisure, and cost about USD 113 million to build. From the observation deck the whole city spreads out: the port and the Indian Ocean, Beira Lake, the towers of the financial district and, on clear days, the distant hills. Inside is an interactive digital exhibition called Pixel Bloom along with leisure facilities, and close by is the Pettah floating market on Beira Lake, good for a short stroll after your visit. Foreign adults pay USD 20 and children aged 3 to 10 pay USD 10, covering the observation deck and the digital exhibition, with entry in timed slots, per the official ticket site. Go up just before sunset to see the city in daylight and then lit up.
