Zhuhai's famous seafront, a coastal road begun in 1991 that runs about 28 kilometres along the South China Sea, from Xiangzhou in the north through Jida to Gongbei on the border with Macau, lined with palms, a long promenade, cycle lanes and small sandy beaches; it is the city's best-known and most visited road. It was first given the provisional name «Xiangwan Avenue», but the nickname «Lovers' Road» spread through the newspapers and became the name everyone uses; it passes Xianglu Bay and its beach and the seaside park, looks out to Yeli Island and the Zhuhai Grand Theatre, and ends in the south at a terrace looking across to Macau. Halfway along, the Fisher Girl statue stands on a rock in the water, the emblem of the city; designed by the sculptor Pan He and completed in 1982, it shows a young woman raising a pearl to the sky with both hands, after a local legend of a heavenly maiden who came down to this shore to live as a simple fisherwoman, and it was listed as a cultural relic in 2014, reached by a short boardwalk on the shore. The road and the statue are free and always open, per visitor guides. Sunset and the evening, when the sea breeze blows and the seafront is lit, are the loveliest times, and bicycles can be hired to ride along it.

Zhuhai's cooking is built on Cantonese seafood and pork is common, but Lanzhou-style noodle shops run by Hui Muslims and displaying the halal sign are found across the city; always ask and check for the sign.
