Hot mineral springs and waterfalls in a rocky gorge between Madaba and the Dead Sea, 264 m below sea level and 27 km from Madaba. The area has 63 springs of different temperatures but similar make-up. The water emerges from the rock at 45 to 60 °C, rich in magnesium, calcium and potassium, and spills down waterfalls that stain the rock yellow and red with mineral deposits. People have come here since ancient times to ease skin conditions and joint and back pain, standing under the hot waterfall or sitting in the natural pools beneath it. The valley has a resort and spa as well as a public area for day visitors, charging about 10 to 15 JD, per visitor guides. The road down is steep and winding, and winter and spring are the most pleasant times to go.
