A Manado Tua sunset
Behind the volcanic island.
A modern seafront walkway on Manado bay, running over rocks and water with broad platforms, now where the city gathers in the evening to watch the sunset behind the volcanic island of Manado Tua, one of the city's finest views. The walk has space to sit and stroll and stalls selling drinks and snacks, such as fried plantain with sambal and grilled corn. The water here is rocky and mostly not for swimming; it is a place for strolling and photos. The walk is free and always open. Check whether stall food is halal, as some may not be. Come an hour before sunset and take a spot facing Manado Tua. It is close to the road to the Minahasa highlands, so it can end a day's tour.
