A long green promenade along high cliffs above the Pacific in Miraflores, Lima's smartest district, running for kilometres through linked parks with paths for walking, jogging and cycling, and lookouts over the beaches and ocean waves below. Along it are flower gardens, a small lighthouse, children's playgrounds and slopes from which paragliders launch over the cliff and the sea, gliding right in front of you. At one end is the Larcomar shopping centre, built into the cliff itself, with restaurants and cafés facing the ocean. Below the cliff are pebble beaches and a coastal road, with waves good for surfing, so surfers are in the water most of the year. The promenade is loveliest at sunset, when the sun drops into the ocean. It is safe, clean and lit, and most visitors to Lima stay nearby. In the winter months, June to October, grey fog often covers the sky and the views shrink.

The beaches below are pebbly, the waves strong and the water cold, so they suit surfers more than swimmers. Enjoy the views and sunset from above.
