On the horizon.
A viewpoint on the winding coast road north of Senggigi, on a slope above the sea, one of Lombok's best-known lookouts. From it the view spreads over successive sandy bays fringed with coconut palms, with the three Gili islands on the horizon and, at sunset, Bali's Mount Agung. The coast road itself is among the island's loveliest, curving along the shore between forest and bays, with several places to stop for photos. At the hill small stalls sell coconuts and grilled corn, with benches to sit on. It is free and always open. It gets a little busy before sunset, and stopping on the road needs care. Take it in on your way to Bangsal harbour and the Gilis, or come specially half an hour before sunset. It is loveliest on clear days.
