Yes, and it is about the most authentically Swedish sporting experience available. Hockey is Sweden's first winter sport and the SHL is among Europe's strongest leagues. The atmosphere is unlike football: the crowd is family-heavy, the arena is indoors and warm, and the game is fast and legible even if you do not know the rules. The season runs September to March, tickets cost far less than western European sport, and they are bought online. Malmö Redhawks and Frölunda in Gothenburg are among the best-known clubs.

Malmö Arena is an indoor hall seating about fifteen thousand in the **Hyllie** district south of the city, opened in 2008, and among the largest indoor arenas in Scandinavia. It hosted the **Eurovision Song Contest** in 2013, which is the event that made it known outside Sweden. It regularly hosts ice hockey for Malmö Redhawks, international concerts, exhibitions and handball. The building is part of the Emporia complex, which includes a large shopping centre, a hotel and a railway station — so it is easily reached by local train from Malmö Central in about six minutes. For an ordinary visitor **there is nothing to see here without an event**: the hall is closed outside matches and concerts and there are no regular tours. Its value is that you may find something worth attending during your visit — check its schedule.
