An international racing circuit between the hills and the sea in the Mandalika zone of south Lombok, opened in 2021, which hosts a round of the MotoGP motorcycle world championship every year along with other series, drawing tens of thousands of fans from Indonesia and the world. Its track runs close to the beach, making it one of the most beautifully set circuits in the world. Outside race days the circuit sometimes runs visitor tours and activities, such as cycling on the track or tours of the pit areas, and it can be seen from the surrounding hills. The Mandalika area around it is developing fast with hotels, restaurants and a seafront promenade. There is no fee to see the circuit from outside, while race tickets and inside tours are priced by event. Hotel prices soar and sell out early in MotoGP week, usually held in the autumn. For racing fans, plan your trip around the MotoGP date and book tickets and accommodation early. Otherwise, make it a short stop on a tour of the southern beaches.
