The Martuljek waterfalls are two falls on the Martuljek stream in the heart of the Martuljek mountain group above the village of Gozd Martuljek, in Triglav National Park in northwest Slovenia, about 4 km east of Kranjska Gora in a straight line. The area and the stream were declared a landscape park in 1949 for their uniqueness and have been part of Triglav National Park since 1981. The lower fall is the smaller, 29 metres high and continuing another 25 metres in several drops, reached through a gorge 350 metres long and about 100 metres high. The upper fall is more powerful, about 100 metres high in its four stages. White water pours in threads and steps down grey and brown limestone walls inside a narrow gorge, its edges covered in beech and fir forest. From the path to the falls the jagged peaks of the Martuljek group appear above the trees. Visitors walk from Gozd Martuljek on a forest path to the lower fall, crossing wooden bridges and ladders in the gorge, and fitter walkers continue on a steeper climb to the upper fall. The path is slippery after rain, and good shoes are essential.
