A long beach of soft white sand on Bangka island's north coast near Parai Tenggiri Beach, stretching for kilometres beside a dense coastal forest of casuarina pines, notable for its calm and breadth compared with its busier neighbour. The water is clear blue, the sandy bottom shelves gently, and at the ends of the beach lie large granite boulders, as on most Bangka beaches. Islanders come at weekends for outings and barbecues under the trees, and there are simple food and coconut stalls. The beach is usually free, with small parking charges. The water is calm most of the year, though waves build in some seasons, so ask before swimming. Combine it with Parai Tenggiri, Tanjung Pesona and the Puri Tri Agung temple on one tour of the island's north, about an hour from Pangkal Pinang.

Parai is resort-run and tidy with an entry fee, while Matras is a broader, quieter public beach with simpler services; the two are neighbours, so choose by preference.
