Meia Praia is a beach and neighbourhood in the south of Itapema, Santa Catarina, between Balneário Camboriú and Porto Belo. Its long beach has fairly calm water and a lovely view of the surrounding hills, and every summer it draws thousands of tourists who fill the district. The neighbourhood has become a modern resort area of residential towers with every service, from banks and supermarkets to shopping centres, restaurants and bars. In 2008 the town, together with the federal government, began building the linear promenade that reorganised the seafront, opening up more space for walking, sport and leisure for residents and visitors. The beach suits families thanks to its calm water, and is good for walking and cycling on the promenade and watching the sunset over the hills. It combines well with nearby Balneário Camboriú and Bombinhas on a trip along the Emerald Coast.
