The Brazilian Aerospace Memorial is a museum in São José dos Campos, created in 2004 by the Department of Aerospace Science and Technology to preserve the history of Brazil's aerospace industry. It stands opposite the city airport and the main plant of the aircraft maker Embraer, which was born inside that same institution. It covers 75,000 square metres that preserve the campus's plants and wildlife, with an exhibition hall, a 120-seat auditorium and an eating area overlooking a lake. The collection is arranged in sections: teaching; aeronautics, with the second prototype of the Bandeirante, the first aircraft designed and built in Brazil; and space, with models of the Sonda rockets and the satellite launch vehicle, alongside research such as the prototype electronic voting machine. Entry and parking are free according to the institution's service charter, with opening usually Tuesday to Sunday; check times before you go.
