**A viewpoint cut inside a cliff four hundred and fifty metres high — and entirely invisible from outside** — at Lanzarote's northern tip. ⚠ **The concealment is the idea**: **César Manrique designed it in 1973** ✅ **to be **invisible from below and from the sea**** — **hollowed into the cliff and covered in stone and earth**; ⚠ **so you approach and see no building**, **then step inside and two vast windows open onto the view**. ✅ **The view is the reward**: **the narrow El Río strait beneath you** — **and **La Graciosa** with its white beaches opposite**, **salt pans, and the small Chinijo islands**. ⚠ **The site was a gun battery** in the 19th century — **hence its strategic position**. ✅ **And inside is a café with curved windows.**

**Yes if you want an island without paved roads — it is the smallest inhabited Canary and by far the least developed.** ✅ **What it is**: **a small island (29 km²) north of Lanzarote** — ⚠ **with only about **700 inhabitants****; ✅ **and it was officially recognised as **the eighth Canary Island** in 2018**. ⚠ **What distinguishes it**: **almost no paved roads** — ✅ **the streets are sand**; **no large hotels and no private cars for visitors**, **with movement on foot, by bicycle, or in local 4×4s**. ✅ **Getting there**: **a ferry from **Órzola** in northern Lanzarote** — ⚠ **about 25 minutes**, **several times a day**; ✅ **and a day return is easy**. ✅ **What to do**: **beaches** — ⚠ **and Playa de las Conchas is among the finest**: **golden sand and turquoise water**; ⚠ **but **its currents are dangerous and swimming there is unsafe**** — ✅ **swim at La Francesa or Playa del Salado instead**. ✅ **And walking, cycling and diving.** ⚠ **⚠ Take water and food** — **services outside the village are very limited**, **and there is almost no shade**. ⚠ **And the last ferry back is early** — **check it carefully**.
