A single tall waterfall dropping from a rock cliff in the rainforest into a broad round pool, framed by dense tropical plants and ferns. The white water falling through dark green is one of the loveliest sights in Chiapas. Its best-known feature is a narrow path that runs behind the curtain of falling water, so you walk between cliff and fall, soaked by spray, seeing the forest through the water. At the end of the path is a small cave you can enter with a local guide. Visitors swim in the cold pool below the fall. The site is run by a local community, with a simple restaurant and cabins for overnight stays. The fall is strongest in the rainy season and its water clearest in the dry season. The path behind the fall is always wet and slippery, so wear shoes that grip rock. A visit is usually combined with Agua Azul on one tour from Palenque.

Yes, a narrow path runs behind the falling water, but it is wet and slippery, so wear suitable shoes, go carefully and expect to get soaked.
