A unique living museum in the velodrome built for the 1976 Montreal Olympics, turned in 1992 into complete natural habitats under one roof, through which visitors pass between the climates of the Americas in an hour. The route begins in a warm, humid tropical rainforest where small monkeys climb, colourful birds fly and Amazon fish swim, then the Quebec maple forest with its beavers and otters, then the Gulf of St. Lawrence with its large marine tank. It ends in two cold polar habitats, the Labrador coast and the sub-Antarctic islands, where penguins and puffins live among snow and cold water. The building was renovated and reopened in 2020 with new upper walkways. Tickets are C$25.50 per adult for visitors from outside Quebec, per the official site. It suits any weather, with the Olympic Stadium's leaning tower and the Botanical Garden next door.
