Morada dos Baís is a cultural centre in a historic townhouse in central Campo Grande, once known as the Pensão Pimentel. It was built by Bernardo Franco Baís as the city's second two-storey house and the first built of brick and mortar, originally roofed with slate tiles brought from Italy. It was designed by the engineer João Pandiá Calógeras, built by an Italian immigrant, completed in 1918, and stayed the Baís family home until 1938. In 1937 the family's daughter, the pioneering artist Lídia Baís, painted murals on its walls, including her blue bedroom, which she called the «Mystic Room». The building reopened to the public in August 2025 after years of restoration, with rooms of local handicrafts and displays on the family and the city. It opens Monday to Friday from 8:00 to 17:00 and Saturday from 8:00 to 12:00.
