Morro do Spitzkopf, whose German name means «pointed head», is a peak in Blumenau, Santa Catarina, about 936 metres high, within the Serra do Itajaí National Park in the Serra do Mar, overlooking the valley of the Itajaí-Açu River. It was first climbed in 1872 by Friedrich Deeke, commander of the forest scouts of the German colony, and in 1929 the Spitzkopf Klub was founded and built a climbers' hut. The foot of the mountain is reached by an old road along the Caeté stream, now named Rua Bruno Schreiber. The main trail lies in a private ecological park that reopened after being closed since 2020. The summit trail opens on Saturday and Sunday mornings, while shorter trails run into the afternoon, with an entry fee of about twenty reais. The climb to the summit takes about an hour and a half to two hours, and the full trail more than four hours and needs fitness. The summit gives a wide view over the Itajaí valley and the Atlantic Forest. Set off in the morning and bring water and proper shoes.
