An open-air film set and theme town in one, opened on 29 December 2013 by the director Feng Xiaogang with the Huayi Brothers studio beside the Mission Hills resort, with whole streets built as backdrops for Chinese films and television series. «1942 Street» recreates the city of Chongqing in the 1940s and was built for the film «Back to 1942», with its theatres, bell tower and buildings, while Nanyang Street runs about 300 metres with seventy buildings in the style of the Chinese communities' towns of Southeast Asia, alongside streets in the style of 1950s and 1960s Beijing and a European-style square and church. Visitors wander between the façades, watch street shows and dress up in period costume for photographs, and now and then they may come across a new production being filmed. A ticket for one zone costs about CNY 126 and for two zones about CNY 168; children up to 1.2 metres and visitors over seventy enter free, and it opens from 9:00 to 22:00, per visitor guides. The evening, when the lanterns come on, is the loveliest time.
