Mungyeong Saejae is a mountain pass in central South Korea on Joryeong Mountain, between the main peak at 1,017 metres and Sinseon Peak, with its entrance about 22 km northwest of Mungyeong city in a straight line. The pass rises to 642 metres and links Mungyeong in North Gyeongsang with Goesan County in North Chungcheong. Its name means bird pass, a pass so high that even birds struggle to cross it. It is the only place where the old road between Seoul and Busan, the Great Yeongnam Road, still looks as it did in the Joseon Dynasty. Scholars, traders and officials crossed it on their way to the capital. The area became a provincial park in 1981. A wide earth road runs up a green valley between the mountains, passing three old stone gates with curved wooden roofs that still stand along the way. Clear streams run beside it and forest covers the slopes, turning red and gold in autumn. Visitors walk from the car park along the old road from the first gate to the third on an easy, shaded path. The park also has a museum, an open-air film set for historical dramas, and shops and restaurants at the entrance.
