The Paleontology Museum in Marília, western São Paulo state, opened in 2004 and displays a collection drawn from research carried out in the region itself, including fossils of dinosaurs and crocodiles from the Cretaceous period, the last age of the dinosaurs. The pieces on display come from digs in the region, among them remains of crocodiles and dinosaurs that lived in what is now western São Paulo state, making the museum a window on the deep past of this land and on the work of the researchers who study it. The museum is on Avenida Sampaio Vidal in the city centre. Travel listings say it opens on weekdays from 9:00 to 17:00 and closes at weekends, but these are not official sources, so check times with the city before visiting. It suits a short visit for families and earth-science lovers.
