The Professor Antônio Pergola Natural History Museum is a small museum inside a park in Atibaia, created in 1989 and named after the biologist Antônio Pergola, known as Toninho Pergola, a specialist in taxidermy. Small as it is, the museum holds about a thousand mounted animals, artistically prepared or restored by Pergola himself, most of them birds, giving a broad picture of the wildlife of the region and of Brazil. School groups and birdwatchers make good use of it, as it offers a close look at species that are hard to see in the wild. It suits a short visit combined with a walk in the surrounding park, especially with children. We found no recent official hours; check with Atibaia's city government before going.
