The Paulo Setúbal Historical Museum is a cultural institution in Tatuí, São Paulo state, about forty minutes from Sorocaba, devoted to the memory of the writer and poet Paulo Setúbal, a son of the town, and to Tatuí's local history. The museum occupies a historic building put up in 1920 to house the jail, the court and the town council, on land the council gave the state government in 1913. It was designed in an elegant two-storey style with spacious cells and a large room for juries and hearings, and stands on Praça Manoel Guedes, now known as «Museum Square». The idea of honouring Setúbal arose in 1937, just after his death, on the initiative of a local teacher, and the museum was founded with donations of the writer's belongings during a «Paulo Setúbal Week». Today it shows his belongings along with documents and photographs on the town's history. Tatuí is also known as the «capital of music» for its famous conservatory.
