The Prudente de Moraes Historical and Educational Museum in Piracicaba was created by decree in 1956 and opened in 1957 in the house where former president Prudente José de Moraes Barros lived from 1870 to 1902, with historical and personal objects of his. It was set up together with three other museums in Campinas, Guaratinguetá and Batatais to keep the memory of the four republican presidents from São Paulo state. Between the 1930s and 1950s the building had housed a dental school, a primary school and an education office. Alongside the president's belongings, the museum holds a collection on the 1932 Constitutionalist Revolution and pieces from the history of Piracicaba. The building is listed at city, state and federal level, and the federal listing also covers the president's collection. Check opening times.
