The Sacaca Museum, officially the Sacaca Museum Research Centre, is a cultural and scientific institution in Macapá, capital of Amapá, the state the equator runs through. It belongs to the state's scientific and technological research institute, covers about 21,000 square metres in the Trem district, and opened in 1997. Its aim is to gather, preserve and present both the scientific knowledge and the popular knowledge of the Amazon's peoples, and it is named after Raimundo dos Santos Souza, «Mestre Sacaca», Amapá's famous herbal healer, whose centenary falls in 2026. Its highlight is an open-air exhibition circuit built with Indigenous, riverside, forest-gatherer and cassava-flour-producing communities, showing their real homes and tools: a riverside house on stilts, an Indigenous hut, a flour-making house and more. The museum explains ways of life in the Amazon; entry is usually free, and opening times vary, so check before visiting.
