Indonesia's first museum of modern and contemporary art from Indonesia and around the world, opened in November 2017 in West Jakarta and named by Time magazine in 2018 among its World's 100 Greatest Places. It has about four thousand square metres of display space in a modern white building. The museum shows works from its collection by Indonesian and international artists, and temporary exhibitions that change through the year, many of them interactive and popular with young people and families, with large installations and light works. It has a dedicated children's space with art activities. Ticket prices vary by exhibition and day, around one hundred thousand rupiah or more per adult, and booking timed tickets on the official website is recommended; the museum usually closes on Mondays. An hour or two is enough, and the museum is air-conditioned, comfortable at midday. Check the current exhibition before going, as the visit depends heavily on it.
