Mutso is a highland village in Dusheti Municipality, Mtskheta-Mtianeti, northern Georgia, in the historical region of Khevsureti, about 7 km southeast of Shatili in a straight line and about 11 to 12 km by road. It is also known as Mitsu. The village lies in the valley of the Ardoti, a tributary of the Argun. Above the modern village, a separately protected medieval fortified settlement occupies the rocky slope. Nineteenth- and early twentieth-century accounts distinguished the fortified complex above from a smaller settlement of the same name at its foot. Towers and houses of stacked grey stone slabs pile up on the edge of a sharp rocky ridge above the valley, like a castle hanging between green mountains. From the top they look down on the Ardoti river and scattered towers along the valley. Visitors come from Shatili on the dirt road beside the Argun river, then climb a steep path on foot to the towers. The rocks are loose in places, so take care, and the road is usually open only in summer.
