A clear river in Yongjia County north of Wenzhou, 150 km long and one of the main tributaries of the Ou River, famous for its «thirty-six bends and seventy-two beaches», meaning shallow, clear water winding between pebbles, rocks and green hills; it became a national scenic area in 1988. The classic outing is a bamboo raft down the calm river between rocks and cliffs, best known at Shiziyan, «Lion Rock», while old villages, small waterfalls and summer swimming spots line its banks. Bamboo rafts are priced per raft, from about CNY 150 to 190 for one rider depending on the landing, and run from 8 am to 5 pm, per visitor guides. Wear light clothes and bring something to keep your phone dry.
