Walk around the lake to the western end (Camping Bled and the Velika Zaka car park), about 40 minutes from the centre, with the path signed from there; or drive to the car park.

The picture of Bled you have seen was taken from here: Ojstrica is a rocky lookout on a wooded hill above the lake's western end, climbed in twenty minutes from the Velika Zaka car park up a steep path through the trees โ and at the edge the full scene opens: the island with its church in the middle of the emerald, the castle on its cliff, the Alps behind. Above it rises the higher Mala Osojnica, fifteen minutes further on a steeper path with iron stairs, its view wider with the mountain peaks. Both are free with benches in nature, sunrise from the first and sunset from the second famous among photographers โ and a misty autumn morning makes the lake float. Trainers at least, and water; the path is wet in spring and icy in winter.

Higher and wider โ for sunset.
