One of Georgia's tallest waterfalls, near Kinchkha village north of Kutaisi, where the Okatse river drops from a high limestone cliff in three tiers totalling about a hundred and forty metres, between forested rock walls. Officially the Okatse Waterfall Natural Monument, it lies close to Okatse canyon, which has its own page. From the entrance a path and stairs through the forest lead to viewing platforms over the big falls, then down to turquoise pools and a narrow rocky gorge below, with smaller cascades and cold clear water. It is loveliest in spring and early summer when the water is plentiful. The Agency of Protected Areas runs it for a small entry fee; it opens by day, with hours varying by season. Paths and stairs can be slippery, so wear good shoes; the climb down to the pools and back is a little tiring. Combine it with nearby Okatse canyon on a day from Kutaisi, about an hour's drive.
