Olympos is an ancient Lycian city on Turkey's Mediterranean coast, near the village of Çıralı in Antalya Province, about 60 km southwest of Antalya in a straight line. Olympos was a medium-sized port city and one of the six cities of the Lycian League that held three votes. Its buildings spread along both banks of a stream running through a deep valley to the sea. The geographer Strabo mentions it, and it flourished again in the 5th century before being abandoned. Stone remains are scattered among laurel, fig and oleander along the stream: walls, arched gateways, tombs and columns overgrown with plants. The valley ends at a long pebble beach between towering green mountains, with clear blue water. Visitors walk the shady path among the ruins to the beach and swim after the visit. Nearby is the Chimaera, where natural flames burn out of the rock, which some climb to in the evening; the site lies within the Beydağları Coastal National Park.
