Thousands of orchids

A broad pine forest in Cikole north of Lembang turned into a nature park with thousands of orchids from Indonesia and around the world, in greenhouses and along paths among towering trees, with cool, fresh air and mist drifting between the trunks. Its best-known feature is the long wooden suspension bridge among the trees, along with swings, photo platforms and forest cafes. In the evening parts of it become a glowing forest lit in colours that draw night visitors. There is also space for camping and picnics. Tickets are mid-priced, and the evening lights may need a separate ticket. It is about an hour's drive from Bandung and crowded on holidays. Come in the morning to see the orchids in natural light, or in the late afternoon and stay until the forest lights up. Bring a jacket, as it is cold, especially in the evening.
