Chácara do Jockey Park is a municipal park in the Vila Sônia district of west São Paulo, opened on 30 April 2016 over 143,500 square metres for sport, culture, leisure and education, between the Professor Francisco Morato and Pirajussara avenues. The land was once a small farm, bought by the São Paulo Jockey Club in 1946 to breed, train and stable racehorses before races at the Cidade Jardim track. It was also home to a children's sports club that produced players for the Brazilian national team, and it hosted international concerts. In 2014 the city decided to turn it into a public park in exchange for the club's tax debts, without spending public money. The park has football pitches, a skate park, a multi-sports court, playgrounds and places to relax, with varied small woods, gardens and lawns, and 33 animal species have been recorded there, mostly birds and butterflies. It is a quiet green lung for the west of the city.
