The Water Park is the main sight of São Lourenço in southern Minas Gerais, part of the «Circuito das Águas» known for its mineral springs. It covers 430,000 square metres and holds nine mineral-water springs, each with its own properties. The park is split in two. The first part holds all the springs, a spa, gardens, lawns, avenues and forest roads, the «Ilha dos Amores» and a 90,000-square-metre lake with pedal boats and rowing boats. The spa beside the lake is a city emblem, offering carbonated-water baths, sauna and a Turkish bath, some treatments only under medical guidance. The second part has courts, jogging and cycling tracks and showers of sulphurous water, linked by a tunnel under Rua Saturnino da Veiga. The park is run by the company that bottles the town's water. Tasting the different springs is a favourite ritual here; check prices and hours.
