An enchanting nature park on a small island between two branches of the Fonce River in San Gil, known for giant trees hung with long, silvery-grey curtains of «old man's beard» moss, making the forest look like something from a fairy tale. You walk on boardwalks and small bridges among the huge trees, light filtering through the hanging moss and the sound of the river on both sides. The park is full of birds and has a natural pool fed by river water. San Gil is called Colombia's «adventure sports capital», the base for whitewater rafting, paragliding and abseiling down waterfalls. The park is a quiet break amid all that. The visit is short, calm and family-friendly. It is humid, with mosquitoes at times.
