Lago Azul, «Blue Lake», State Park is a nature reserve in Campo Mourão, Paraná, covering 1,749 hectares of rich biodiversity around a lake holding seventy million cubic metres of water. Planning began in 1992 between the state power company, the environment institute and the municipalities of Campo Mourão and Luiziana, and it opened on 30 June 1997. Its name comes from the reservoir formed on the Mourão River when the power of the Salto São João waterfall was harnessed to build the Mourão hydroelectric plant in the 1960s. The park has an environmental education centre that gives talks and accompanies visitors along 3,850 metres of trails through native forest, including a visit to the waterfall on site. Water sports on the lake include jet-skiing, waterskiing, boat trips and canoeing, along with amateur fishing.
