The Carambeí Historical Park is an open-air history museum in the town of Carambeí, Paraná, about 25 kilometres from Ponta Grossa, opened in 2011 for the centenary of Dutch immigration on a 100,000-square-metre site. It preserves the memory of the Dutch immigrants who settled the old Carambeí estate in the early 20th century, and the legacy that built a new community and a lasting partnership between Brazil and the Netherlands. The successful Dutch migration to the area began in 1911, when the first families arrived seeking a future of peace and prosperity, and founded a dairy cooperative that grew into one of Brazil's largest. The park has five wings: the House of Memory, the Historic Village with buildings rebuilt in the style of the first settlers, the Water Park, the Amsterdam Cultural Centre with its Dutch architecture and the Exhibition Centre. It has a Dutch-style windmill, canals and gardens, and suits half a day with the family; check opening times and prices.
