Fazenda Lagoa do Nado Park is a municipal park in the Itapoã district of the Pampulha region in north Belo Horizonte, opened in September 1994. It covers three hundred thousand square metres, fully fenced and with firebreaks. The park was born of a campaign by local residents who wanted to protect the green space of an old farm that was to become a housing estate; they succeeded in saving it and turning it into a public park, whose name keeps the memory of that farm and its lake. Better known simply as Lagoa do Nado Park, it is a cultural reference in the city, home to the Lagoa do Nado Cultural Centre, which hosts a varied programme of shows, workshops and children's events. With its lake, lawns, trees and walking paths, it is a quiet place for a family outing in Pampulha and can be combined with a visit to Lake Pampulha and its famous landmarks.
