A hole in the rock.
Ernesto Tornquist Provincial Park in southern Buenos Aires province was created on 23 April 1958 to protect part of the Ventania range, the province's oldest mountains, rising from the flat Pampas. Its best-known peak is Cerro de la Ventana, «the Window», named for a natural hole in the rock near the summit through which the sky shows from the other side. From the visitor centre at the foot of the mountain, short trails lead to streams and small pools, while the climb to the window is a demanding round trip of about six hours, allowed only with authorised guides in groups. The top looks out over plains running to the horizon. It opens Thursday to Tuesday 09:00-17:00 and closes on Wednesdays. The climb starts early in the morning and can be cancelled for weather.
