Island of the oath
An old local tale.

A small green island close to the coast south of Padang, among the nearest and easiest to reach in the area, with white sand, calm turquoise water, and a small hill in its middle overlooking the neighbouring islands. Its name means island of the oath, and local tales tell of an old vow linked to it. Visitors come to swim and snorkel over nearby reefs, paddle, walk the beach and climb the hill for the view. The island has simple stalls and huts for resting. Boats reach it from the Sungai Pisang jetty in about a quarter of an hour, cheaply for a group, and the island charges a small entry fee. It is the best island for a short trip from Padang and can be combined with Pagang and Sikuai islands in one boat tour. Bring water and sun cream, and keep the beach clean.
