A purpose-built floating market on a lake south of Pattaya, known as the Four Regions Market because it is divided into sections representing Thailand's four regions, north, north-east, centre and south, with their architecture, crafts and food. Traditional wooden houses stand on the water, linked by bridges and walkways. You wander the walkways or glide in a small wooden boat between shops selling crafts, souvenirs, fruit, sweets and Thai food, and watch cultural shows at set times. It is a comfortable, close alternative for anyone who does not want the two-hour trip to Bangkok's floating markets. Entry for foreigners is about two hundred baht, with boat rides extra, and the market opens daily from morning to evening. Check halal status at the food stalls, as most are general Thai. A visit takes an hour and a half to two and a half hours, best in the morning or late afternoon. The market suits families and photography, and is close to Jomtien Beach.
