The Pedra Caída tourist complex is a private reserve in the Chapada das Mesas region, about 35 km from central Carolina on the BR-010, bringing waterfalls, a canyon, pools and lodging together on one property. It is the easiest of the region's sights to reach, with no need for four-wheel drive. Its highlight is the «Santuário» (Sanctuary) waterfall, which drops 46 metres inside a wide rock canyon closed on almost every side, like a natural hall lit from above; an ecological trail of about 600 metres leads to it. The complex also has other waterfalls, a pool and water-slide area, a cable car, and two ziplines of 1,200 and 1,400 metres starting from its highest point at 398 metres. Entry is about R$70, R$35 for seniors and students, including the pools, with extra fees for the Santuário waterfall (about R$40), the cable car and the ziplines; check current prices. It gets busy at weekends.
