Pedra Furada, the Pierced Rock, is a natural rock arch on the shore of Jericoacoara National Park east of the village, carved by waves and wind into a dark rock at the sea's edge, and it has become Jeri's emblem and most photographed view. It is reached on foot along the beach at low tide, about an hour from the village, or by the trail over the rocky hill above the sea, or by buggy or on horseback. High tide covers the beach route, so check the tide times before setting off. People in Jeri say that in some weeks of the year, around July, the sun sets in line with the opening of the arch. Bring water and sunscreen, as there is no shade on the way.
