A museum of modern and contemporary art in Museum Park on Biscayne Bay in downtown Miami, focused on 20th- and 21st-century art, especially from the Americas and the cultures of the Atlantic rim, and one of the city's leading cultural landmarks. Its building is known for its distinctive design: hanging gardens of tropical plants drop from the broad wooden canopy, and shaded terraces on slender columns face the bay, blending inside and outside in a way suited to Miami's climate. The grounds around the museum hold outdoor contemporary sculptures, the Frost Science Museum is next door, and the terraces look out over the bay, its bridges and the islands of Miami Beach. Adult tickets are about $25, per visitor guides. Even without going into the galleries, the terraces, hanging gardens and bay view are worth a short stroll, especially at sunset.
