The waterfall you walk behind: Peričnik in the Vrata valley north of Triglav drops 52 metres from an overhanging ledge, and the path passes behind the curtain of water itself — you stand in the rock hollow with the fall before you and the valley beyond, an experience needing no skill and no ticket. Above it a smaller upper fall is reached on a steeper path for the willing. From the car park at the Peričnik lodge it is ten minutes up a stone path, and winter freezes it into blue ice columns visited for their own sake. The valley continues to its end at the Aljaž hut with a view of Triglav's north face, the greatest rock wall in the Eastern Alps — the start of the climbing routes. 30 km from Bled via Mojstrana, paired with Kranjska Gora in a day.
