A great sea stack off the shore on the coast road between Paphos and Limassol. Its Greek name means «Rock of the Romios», and it is also called Aphrodite's Rock, since Greek mythology makes it the place where the goddess Aphrodite was born from the sea foam. Smaller rocks and clear blue water surround the big stack, with white cliffs and a beach of coloured pebbles behind, one of the best-known natural sights in Cyprus. The sea here is usually rough, so swim only when it is calm, and climbing the rock is not allowed. A pedestrian underpass leads under the road to the beach from the car park and the restaurant opposite. It is free and open, loveliest at sunset when the rocks and water change colour. A raised viewpoint on the road looks over the whole bay and is worth a stop too.
